National Medal of Honor Museum could call Colorado home

 · It is the aircraft that was flown by Maj. Bernard Fisher on March 10, 1966, when he rescued a fellow pilot shot down over South Vietnam, a deed for which he was awarded the Medal of Honor. The aircraft was restored and is currently on display at the National Museum.

William John "Bill" Crawford (May 19, 1918 – March 15, 2000) was a United States Army soldier who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during world war ii.He was also a career U.S. Army enlisted soldier and later a janitor at the United States Air Force Academy.

This is one of 4 sites that make up the "national" level memorial for Medal of Honor recipients. The one in Pueblo was created in 1993 and has not grown since the display was built inside the convention center along with the movie (which we did not see on this visit) and the outside memorial garden.

Today, Jefferson Barracks is a county park, historic site, museum district, active military installation, national cemetery, and a Department of veterans affairs hospital complex. In addition to the Missouri Civil War Museum, there are other places to see throughout the historic site.

Honor and pay tribute to all veterans and remember their sacrifice. Recognize by name the Madison County veterans killed in action during all wars from WWI to present. Recognize and honor Madison County veterans awarded the Medal of Honor.
